Let’s talk

1. Put up the picture of Let’s talk on the board and say: I want to go to the post office. Where is the post office? Help the Ss to answer: It’s east/west/south/north of … Then look at the picture and ask questions about some places in the picture.

2. Prepare a Chinese map and ask questions about cities and provinces in China: Where is Jiangxi? It’s east of Hunan. It’s west of Zhejiang. It’s south of Anhui.

3. Divide the Ss into six groups. Give six different word cards to each group: hospital, bookstore, park, post office, cinema and school. The teacher stands in the middle and says: I want to go to the hospital. Where is it? Ss: It’s east of the park. T: How can I get there? Ss: Turn left at the cinema, and go straight. Then turn right at the post office and go straight. It’s on the left.

4. Listen to the tape and repeat.

5. Perform the dialogue in roles.

2) To use the sentence structures as following: Where is…? It’s near\ next to\ in front of…. or…is in the middle\ on the left\ on the right.

3) To read and understand the story.

运用英语,听懂和描述目标物所在的方位。

Step1

Warm - up

1) Sing the song: When is your birthday?

Sing the song.

Step2

Presentation

1) Lead in: When is your birthday? Do you have a party on the day? Who are on the party?

2) Activity1: Make the Invitation Card

T: Do you want your friend to join your party?

So now, invite your friends to come.

Group the Ss into Bear Family, Monkey Family,

Duck family…etc.

Ss make the invitation card in groups.

Have one student from each group read their invitation.

3) Activity 2: Taste the drinks

Lead in: Bear Family has a drink for you. Do you want to taste it?

Show Ss kinds of drinks.

Practice and use: It’s too tart/ sweet/ salt/cool…

Look before you leap.

Tell your partner your birthday.

Make Invitation Card in groups.

One student to read the invitation. Others to find out where is the party being held.

Put the nametag on the building.

Ss choose the drink they’d like to taste.

Tell Ss what does it taste? It’s too salt/ yummy/cool…

活动名称:制作生日邀请卡

活动目的:小组完成生日邀请卡的制作,训练学生阅读理解的技巧,培养学生听及读的良好习惯。

活动辅助:卡纸、水彩笔

活动时间:10分钟

活动对象:全体学生

活动简介:将生日邀请卡的半成品发给各组,各小组根据商量并填写完成邀请卡的制作。各小组派代表上台宣读邀请卡,邀请大家。另一位代表就邀请卡的内容向受邀嘉宾提问,以确认嘉宾清楚时间及地点,以及可以到达的方式。根据嘉宾的回答进行小组积分。

活动特点:体现学中用,用中学的教学理念,综合听、说及理解性阅读的能力,帮助学生养成用英语解决问题的习惯。

活动2

活动名称:百变饮料

活动目的:巩固句型:Look before you leap. It’s too tart\sweet\salt…

活动材料:纸杯、各种饮品

活动时间:8分钟

活动对象:全体学生

活动简介:把各种饮料放在不透明的纸杯中,有的纸杯中的饮品加入了诸如盐、醋、胡椒等东西,请自愿的学生上台来选择任意一种饮料,由他自己选择喝一大口或只是尝一点点。喝完以后告诉大家他的感受。

活动特点:活动中往往产生意想不到的戏剧化效果,学生在轻松一刻中操练了句型,每位学生都乐于尝试,寓教于乐。

活动3

活动名称:快乐组合 妙不可言

活动目的:根据每一步穿插的人物,展开丰富的想象,培养学生的应变能力及将各个小情节汇编成篇的能力。

活动辅助:多媒体课件

活动时间:10分钟

活动对象:全体学生

简介:各小组可以根据各步骤中的选择的人物,可能出现的情节展开想象,各小组完成有自己选择的人物的故事。将各个情节汇编成篇,最后各小组进行角色化表演。各小组协作完成故事,由于各小组的选择不同,可能出现的情节结果各异。

活动特点:步步为营,情节离奇,体现整个过程的趣味化。
